G'day All,
I'm putting this here in the Jaguar Forum as this is obviously where the most activity is.
As you would mostly know, I will be switching over the forum (later in the year) to a stand-alone forum not linked to the website directly.
This is for a number of reasons, but preferring to offer a more traditional conversation flow of a standard forum is definitely of high importance, as well as having a forum not specifically linked with, or limited to Wix.
I am super impressed with the quality of the contributions on the forum, and even at this early stage it has exceeded the expectations. You guys have all worked to create what I think is a fantastic group of ''foundation'' members who each bring your own skills and take on the Jaguar kit.
So, as a result, I ask for your input as I am in the setting up stage of the new forum site.
Comments and suggestions please:
What categories would you like to see under the 1/8 Revell Jaguar XKE? Eg: work in progress, finished builds, builds out of the box, major customisation, roadster conversions, etc). Now I realise this is perhaps getting a little ahead of myself as the forum as it is encompasses all those in the single heading, however, with the aim of attracting more contributors, and being an ever growing resource for this model, I am hoping to ''future proof'' the forum as much as I can.
I wish to have an ''introduce yourself'' section just for some basic details on who you are, where you're from, and what are your interests.
An ''off-topic'' section to discuss pretty much anything (within reason)... water-cooler talk so to speak.
Reference / videos section
New released items (from myself) and perhaps a section for members to ask about spare parts and if anyone s willing to buy and sell
Other building techniques regarding the use of 3d printers, lathes, milling machines etc.
That's pretty much just throwing a few ideas around, but please let me know if anyone thinks this may be ''overkill'' or whether these categories will help in the flow.
As far as other sections and models (Eg: Pocher) and other scales, I will still keep those in place but the forum will remain flexible as if it becomes something that organically grows into the 1/8 Jaguar models, then I will focus on that.
Thanks for your time, and all suggestions taken on board, and I really do appreciate all input. As you all know I am pretty much a one man show but want to see this site , products and the forum grow. I battle my way through these things when I'm not chasing cows or dealing with floods, and I value all of your support immensely.
Colin

Colin, I love the idea of posting images of forum members builds.. especially those that showcase your upgrade detail pieces. Seeing other people's builds inspires me to stretch my own work. Stephen Miller
Thanks for the input and suggestions.
To clarify a couple of things:
Yes, I will be transferring over all the existing posts and images as what is already here provides some fantastic information and images, so definitely not leaving those behind!
Will definitely be having topics for machining (lathe and milling machine) 3D printing, laser cutting engraving, resin casting pouring, pretty much any of those ''industrial'' type processes we make use of.
Other tools and techniques / tutorials / hints and tips
Specific category for painting and finishing as I think this is of real importance with the large scale models. I've seen some of Pierre's work (on a gloss black 1/8 Citroen) and the paint finish on it was absolutely stunning! I've never seen a plain black finish as deep and perfect as on there.
I like the Marketplace idea so will be doing that.
I will be limiting the main forum to large scale models (for items like Chris mentioned, the 1/8 Trans Am), and am happy to make categories for those.
I am also happy to see all other builds and scales as Gilles mentioned, but may group those together a bit more.
Club news, events reference and links
Watercooler Talk
Work in progress for each category
Showroom to give us a look at the completed models
I guess over time I will see where the forum heads organically and work from there.
It all seems like a lot but most of it will be duplicated between each forum category. As Gilles mentioned, I can always add and amend the forum as we go along.
Keep the ideas coming as I am tinkering away on this.
That sounds great. Will you be moving the whole forum to this new platform? I would like to see more activity on other topics as well since I have quite a lot of the models (in my stash) that you already cover, and there’s a ton more (like the Revell 1/8 ‘79? Trans-Am) that are just crying out for detail improvements.
I also like the water cooler idea, plus it would be cool to have topics for 3D printing, CNC routers, lathes etc. and scratch building tools and techniques.
